Witney is a thriving market town with over 25,000 residents making it the largest town in West Oxfordshire. Over recent years Witney has grown rapidly and over the next two decades it will continue to strengthen its position as the main service centre in the District. In seeking to accommodate the scale of growth proposed for Witney in the period to 2026, West Oxfordshire District Council will need to allocate land for new development.

East Witney is situated close to the town centre and employment areas and offers significant scope to encourage more sustainable modes of transport. The development would be centred around and expand on the existing Cogges community.
